How to Host a Sweet Gingerbread House Decorating Party

It's the most wonderful time of the year! There are so many fun and festive activities this time of year. From decorating the Christmas tree to stringing lights on our house and hosting a white elephant Christmas party, we love it all. One of our favorite Christmas traditions is decorating gingerbread houses and cookies. There's just something so sweet about getting together with loved ones, being creative, and creating something beautiful out of cookies and icing.

Our friend, Natalie Mayhew (@fernandmaplestyle) from Fern and Maple, created a charming gingerbread house decorating party with the help of Bakery Bling and gingerbread party decorations from yours truly! Read on to see Natalie's gingerbread party ideas and gather inspiration for your gingerbread party. 

Gingerbread Backdrop

A good fringe background is always a fabulous first step for any party. Natalie strung a red, pink, and white fringe backdrop on the wall from Oh My Darling Party Co. behind the table decor. She embellished the fringe with a Pink Candy Felt Banner and Felt Gingerbread Banner. The corners are decorated with Red Candy Swirl Balloons, and a Happy Gingerbread Man Balloon floats off to the side.

Gingerbread Table Decor

The star of the show is this absolutely adorable table decor. Natalie curated a delightful mix of pink and red elements, accented with charming gingerbread-themed items. 

Running down the center of the table, she intertwined red and pink fabric resembling a candy cane. In the center of the table, she added a small gingerbread man centerpiece with a "Cookie Taster" party pennant inside. 

Two different place settings alternate on the table, bringing extra Christmas magic to the decor. Natalie started with Pink Checkered Dinner Plates layered with red and white striped plates for extra dimension.

She then alternated between a Pink Gingerbread House Plate and a Cozy Gingerbread Man Plate for each seat. Then, alternated between a Gingerbread Man Napkin and a Gingerbread House Napkin for even more gingerbread delight.

Beside each place setting, a set of Red and White Reusable Cutlery is tied together with tinsel and a candy cane! This is a neat way to add more holiday elements and a personal touch for each guest at the table.Every guest has a Gingerbread House Cup to sip their holiday drinks. The paper cups come with pink and white striped fold-out handles, making them resemble mugs. A pair of Gingerbread Plastic Straws rest in the cups for easy sipping. 

Each place setting is completed with a Jumbo Gingerbread Food Cup brimming with popcorn. These spacious cups are perfect for holding various snacks, whether popcorn, cupcakes, or fruit. To keep things organized, she used more gingerbread treat cups for the edible decorations while decorating gingerbread houses! 

Gingerbread Party Favors

Gingerbread Man Party Crackers are strategically placed around the table for added decor and to give the guests a themed party favor. Each cracker is filled with little Christmas trinkets, a surprise to whoever cracks it open! 

Gingerbread House Decorating Kits

These Gingerbread House Kits from Bakery Bling were the literal icing on this fabulous party! The kits come with pre-baked gingerbread house pieces, a pre-filled bag of white icing, glittery sugar, candy sprinkles, and edible accessories. Many options are available on their website, from Christmas Barns, Moose Lodges, Penguin Palaces, and Santa's Surf Shack. They have something fun for all ages! 

This gingerbread decorating party was a sweet treat for Natalie's daughter and friends, and we wish we could have been there to join in on the fun! The combination of the red and pink color palette and gingerbread decorations perfectly captured the essence of the season.
