Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a Colorful Fiesta | The Party Darling

Can you believe it's almost time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Thankfully, we are always ready to fiesta! We celebrated our first private shopping event and the beginning of Spring fiesta-style. Read on to learn how we Celebrated a Colorful Cinco de Mayo!

Find Party Inspiration and Get Started

We knew we wanted to throw a Cinco de Mayo fiesta for our event, but there are so many variations of this theme that we just couldn't decide! We love the look of our More Tacos Please napkins, so we took inspiration from the colors in these adorable napkins and went from there! We can't help but smile when we see these cheerful colors—how could you not?

This is a fun, sneaky party trick if you are like us and cannot decide on a color palette or theme for your party. You can also find a plate, cup, or any other party decoration you like, and base the design on their look!

Design a Beautiful Backdrop

Everything started to fall in place once we decided on our color palette. We made this stunning balloon arch for our beautiful background. Our favorite part of the balloon garland is the bright Gold Star Burst Balloons. This star balloon gives such an extravagant pop of color and excitement!

The balloons are arched over some brilliantly handmade Chiara walls. Wooden Chiara walls have been all the rage recently for party backdrops. You can find custom Chiara walls on Amazon and Etsy

Our delicate Macrame Garland is another addition to our backdrop, complete with wooden beads between each pendant. We strung the garland underneath our balloon arch, but the garland could string along a table, mantle, or photo backdrop.

Set the Table with Fiesta Food and Tableware

One of the best parts of a fiesta is the tables scattered with food! We used two tables layered on top of each other to create a more dimensional look.

The front of our short table is lined with our DIY Fiesta Garland, bringing the colors from the balloons down to the base level. A wicker basket draped with a blanket we got from Home Goods is underneath the colorful garland. Like we say all the time, we LOVE shopping at Home Goods for extra baskets, serving dishes, blankets, rugs, and honestly, everything. We can't get enough!

We filled the basket with small water bottles for our guests. Small bottles are fantastic for parties. This way, you don't find half-finished water bottles all over when your guests leave and have to use them to water plants or the dogs so they're not wasted!

Cinco de mayo salsa

On top of our small table is a beautiful tray we got from, you guessed it, Home Goods. We filled the tray with chips and a bowl of delicious homemade salsa.

Pink cinco de mayo plates

Next to the salsa tray is our inspiration piece, the More Tacos Please napkins! To the left of the napkins, we have another serving board with gorgeous Pink Art Deco Plates resting on top.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate how delicious this table looks? We have some of the fiesta essentials starting with homemade guacamole. Guests can use Fiesta Baking Cups to keep their guac or salsa separated from the rest of their food.

Cinco de mayo avocado plates

Adjacent to these food cups are, unfortunately, not real avocados—they're plates (we wish avocados grew this big, though)! Nevertheless, these Avocado Plates are big enough to pile on some of everything from this savory spread.

Another fiesta food staples are tasty tacos and taquitos that we threw in the Air Fryer to make them super crispy. Above the tacos are some Mini Plastic Forks to help guests eat the array of cheeses and meats above them on our layered charcuterie display.

Cinco de mayo margarita

It's not a fiesta without a margarita! So, we filled a pitcher with a pre-mixed Josè Cuervo margarita with some variety of Cayman Jack canned margaritas below. Guests can enjoy a sip of margarita out of these Gold Cups. Behind the cups are some Pink and Gold Straws for the people who can't drink without a straw (you know who you are).

Cinco de mayo dessert table

Contrasting the cheese and meat we have on the left side of the table, we have a sweet layered dessert board on the right side. We picked up churros and cookies from a local Mexican bakery, and let me tell you what, that was the way to go. These desserts were delicious. Can we celebrate Cinco de Mayo every day?

Finally, we just scattered some Jarritos sodas, limes, and plants around the tables to add in some extra "on brand" decor to give it an elevated look.

We are excited to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and get ready for SUMMER. Who else is so ready for warm weather? For more tips, tricks, and party ideas, keep an eye on our newsletter and check back for new blogs!
